Born and bred
in the UK, Richard’s first encounter with the world of wine was
in Burgundy, France, in 1991, where he lived for five years. From this
moment on, he was absorbed by a field that captured his interest, and
inspired his imagination.
From working in the vineyards, to treading grapes in the winery, along
with brief spells learning the ancient craft of coopering, these experiences
gained at some of the most prestigious names in Burgundy (such as Louis
Latour, Oliver Leflaive and Domaine Jacques Prieur), have ingrained themselves
on a quest that has carried him forward.
Arriving in the Cape of South Africa in 1996, his vinous path continued
at Longridge Winery, Darling Cellars and Dominion Wine Company, before
embarking upon his own production in 2003. |
